Nah, it’s just Silverstars in general, or at least it was. I ran them in my 2005 Vibe back in the day, and they lasted maybe 7 months if you were lucky.

Is it a surprise that one of the Zamboni drivers here is so obviously Canadian?

That is perhaps the angriest tiny engine I’ve heard... I want one.

Hell, mine’s missing half the switch in the driver footwell, so I don’t even know what would happen if the motor miraculously got power.

“My girlfriend and I are moving from NYC to L.A. We (she) decided that we’re going to drive there. What steps can I take to make this drive as smooth as possible?”

Also, these are super fun cars to work on. Like most, they have some jobs that suck massively, but for the most part, they’re easy to work on and pretty straightforward to understand.

Why the hell didn’t insulating the walls ever occur to me until now?!?

COTD for this gentleman right here.

My condolences.

Yeah, if the odometer works on this car, I’d be more inclined to guess it’s got 140k on it.

Non-OBD2 car FTW.

Non-OBD2 car FTW.

HAHAHAHAHA

Galvanization FTMFW! You ever see a rusty 944, RUN LIKE HELL, because IT’S SEEN SOME SHIT.

If you like that, you’ll love the optional decal you could get for the front fender...

Well, and if you could get a new dash, I don’t see why you’d want to put it in a car. How pissed would you be when it cracked a year later? Better option is to repair it properly, and use newer materials when re-covering it (lots of really high-quality options for leather dash covers out there for cheap now!)

No kidding! A decent, drivable 951 can still be had for under $10k (under $8k if you’re lucky), and with the work that car needs, you can get underwater on the project FAST if you’re unlucky.

Not nearly as scary as it looks once you dig in a bit... You can re-cover the dash, install a new shift boot, put a new hinge on the armrest, and put a new set of upholstery on both front seats for maybe $750 if you do everything yourself, and the interior is all of a sudden much nicer than most of the 944s out there.

Damned near every 944 I’ve ever encountered has had an odometer that was either dead when I bought it or died after I got it... It gets exciting when both the odo and the fuel gauge are both dead, though...

Jesus... rebuilt, non-oem injectors for my 1984 944 are $45/each, OE is $351 a piece, and that’s still remanufactured...

$120 for a new fuel injector... Man, I’d kill for that pricing for my 944...
