the capitalists have near total media control in the west (‘inventing reality’ by michael parenti is an excellent book on this topic btw, specific to news media).

let me clarify by rewording a bit.

i read somewhere that in the translation industry, people really do get paid less in order to essentially rewrite automatic translations. this is a technology that gives huge leverage to companies since they can survive a dip in quality if it means having more power to dictate terms to their workers and exploit them

fast food workers being replaced with automation is just a matter of time though. i dont know how difficult it is to implement that kind of stuff (im sure some foods would be easier than others), but one thing is that fast food workers get paid very little, so not as much incentive to replace them.

it will mostly just replace jobs. there can be some benefits where people will be freed from busywork, but that means fewer people overall needed, which means fewer jobs. this under socialism would be a good thing and no problem at all. under capitalism it means humans suffer

i’m not saying those kinds of things can’t happen, but i’m just pointing out that it’s not so simple as ‘well the corporations have total omnipotence, making them an invincible opponent.’ they really would not be able to just jack their prices up to some comical number

we definitely need to have urgency here not just with regard to games, but overall. so many jobs will be lost due to the AI stuff. we can talk about which aspects of the jobs are or aren’t worth automating and that’s fun and all, but at the end of the day we’re talking about more people being put in desperate or

i wouldn’t put this on humans per se; the system of capitalism is one of constant growth and competition. literally a cancerous system

well you can’t just jack the prices up 20x higher when you’re in fierce competition with other companies

i dont think this strategy can work. people absolutely will buy these games; consumers are not going to change anything here. we can’t work within the capitalist system and do very much about corporations automating labor in order to crush workers. we can have solidarity with the workers affected and work with them to

I just think loneliness right now is at a high because of our society.”

i’d like to challenge your wording a bit. we are not exactly talking about limiting the actions of people, we are talking about limiting the actions of *corporations* who aim to influence people’s behavior in order to make a profit. rather than giving them free reign to do this, we should be opposing them at every

i think the ‘you do you’ attitude can be quite dangerous. if this development causes people to develop further mental problems where the line between fantasy and reality is less clear to them etc, this can cause problems for everyone

for real, i hear people laugh at the name and i cry because that trilogy is canon for me

me: we should try having a real discussion where we listen to eachother and advance closer to the truth using evidence and reasoning, instead of trying to ‘win’ an imaginary contest

The problem is not that planning doesn’t work or that its a bad thing. Its not. Its just that planning under a Communist or Socialist system doesn’t magically solve stuff like racism or in a more benign form power disparity between different social groups.”

no it doesn’t, it just means i believe you are disingenuous and not interested in an actual discussion where we try to advance closer to the truth. you can try to bait other people online with that kind of stuff but you will not find any fun here with me

Corruption is not just a tiny issue that can be solved with computers, it would literally be baked into the DNA of the system.”

you italicize the word ‘evidently’ without giving evidence, or even examples. i find this curious
