Sure, but even if we suppose that is true, its still humans making the final decisions and therefor deviating from the calculations for political expediency, self promotion or just sheer incompetence.”

people collectively can do a TON to solve these problems permanently, which is why being educated about socialism, and the ills of capitalism, is really important right now.

you seem to be completely ignoring the point of the video in favor of just being upset at the soviet union in some general sense. if you want something that goes into the fundamental ‘goodness or badness’ of the soviet union, which would be a pretty different discussion, i recommend michael parenti’s ‘blackshirts and

here is a good video on the topic of planned economy. he also discusses/recommends many books on the topic. capitalism is not the ‘least bad system’ we have.

look at it another way though: if people believe that they can make money by alleviating a problem, they may begin to wish for that problem to remain in perpetuity so that they can continue to profit from its existence.

if i profit off of feeding the hungry, it’s bad for business if the problem of hunger is permanently

yes, exactly. they are all ways of controlling your ability to survive, which is bad. the housing case is an even more salient example of this phenomenon, similar to employer-provided healthcare (rather than healthcare being a right)

yes. as you say, the house thing is another form of holding employees hostage.

creepy as hell

the commenter we are discussing was not giving a side or challenging the ‘echo chamber’ though. he was simply giving assorted contrarian thoughts with no discernable purpose in the context of the conversation. not nuance, just distraction that undermines the potential for meaningful discussion

what value can you discern from this ‘nuance’? in other words, how does it help to advance a useful discussion?

sadly youre probably right

yeah in general i feel like we can all fall into habits of ‘wanting to be correct on the internet,’ and it often gets in the way of having a productive discussion with an identifiable purpose

it’s unclear what your reasons for making posts in this comments thread are. you say things like “I don’t see why [corporations] should implement any AI restrictions,” and you wish for the title of the article to soften its language, and also you say that you dislike capitalism. this is quite a mix of things. understan

yeahhh i guess youre right. he was really too strong in the final two missions though imo, so it would have been nice to fix that up. oh well

i honestly feel like nerfing aw1 max would have been a pretty nice change to make. but it’s cool they wanted to be faithful like that anyway

i really like this way of putting it. like pokemon tries to make animal fighting cute and innocent, but it also succeeds in doing so. it’s possible to not like that, but that doesnt necessarily reflect on the game that much

you make a good point that these two cases are not like, logically the same. it is a pretty weird juxtaposition though lol

ok that is definitely weird lol

wow i just checked what episode that is and yeah that’s *exactly* the point where i was like ‘uh what’s going on with this show.’ i was planning on watching the first ten seasons because that’s what people usually say you should watch, but i definitely didn’t make it far past that episode

i think the idea is that they do the whole ‘haha likes food and eats a lot’ trope while also being kinda scared to actually depict fat characters.
