what you’re describing is the very definition of someone else’s problems being spread out across the rest of society and put on others.

when someone experiences a problem and we decide to address that problem with nothing more than individualized professional help, they’re not going into some black box cut off from

we should all care about our own well-being and the well-being of others and support that actively. v important part of being a human

i don’t think alcohol is comparable to loot box games. i think alcohol is more comparable to just ‘video games in general,’ in that it’s okay, but not in excess, and there are people who can cause some harm to themselves by using it too much and getting addicted

loot box games are like a specific type of alcohol that’s

speaking as someone in the camp of ‘we should be rejecting these practices outright, here’s something to consider: by writing an article suggesting that people should play these games (without paying), do you believe that those encouraged by your article will end up actually not paying? or do you think some will

i feel like my knowledge/experience level is too low to be answering this effectively, but games i’ve actually played extensively:

considering the fact that there are tons of low-budget fighting games that are massively better than street fighter? option 2 easily.

honestly the real mistake is that you posted a screenshot of one of the best-looking fighting games ever. tekken 5 cgi openings etc were god tier

this is really random but the reaction to sf5 reminds me of cm punk’s old promo line where he says “believe it or not, i dont hate you; i hate this idea that you’re the best.”

the test you are describing is not a valid one. for example, it could be used to argue that being gay is bad because if everyone in the world became gay, we would have a huge crisis in falling population, which would be problematic for society. basically it’s a made-up scenario where the problem would only exist at

applying the ‘universality test’ is an attempt to sidestep the fact that this situation is completely not universal. the whole point is that if something is less available to me, i am more likely to pirate it. if it is more available to me, i am less likely to pirate it.

if you read the other comments in this thread and consider them to be part of a normal, non-toxic conversation, that’s cool with me. i’ll have to end it here though because to me it’s pretty clear! peace

i dont see where the original commenter posted that either though... I think their wording that “I have no choice but to pirate them” was not good wording, but it’s clear to me they’re just straightforwardly saying “look, i can’t really afford all these games.” i don’t see where they’re comparing that to people who

yeah i’ve been sitting here thinking “when did people become goodie-goodies about this stuff?” bc piracy felt 1000% normal to me like 10 years ago in all the circles i ran in. maybe it’s just this certain crowd though?

how am i using real world economic hardships as an example of anything? i did not say anything like that.

it’s not irrelevant, it just shows that everyone has a price to their ‘integrity,’ and it’s just a matter of what that price happens to be. games are pretty expensive, and for some people that’s enough for them to steal them. for others it isn’t. if the cost were lower, fewer people would pirate. if the cost were

if they’re all lying then why dont they just lie about the fact that they... you know what nvm, go have your fun i’m good lol

i knew this was ian as soon as i read the headline

literally not true though. as a kid i would play games at my friend’s house without paying any money, just to try them. then i would maybe pay for the game to actually own it. it’s not some huge ethical disaster that you think it is, it’s just kind of normal behavior since forever to try a game, then maybe buy it

the weirdest part about the replies here is that this person stated that they do buy the games they want to continue playing. it’s like people literally just failed to read the comment.

im far from an expert on this topic but it seems to me that a big scary point of unions from the perspective of capitalists is that it is likely to lead to much greater class consciousness among workers?

like if i’m a communist i’d much rather have unions than no unions bc that’s much easier to work with/influence?
