yes, upon further thinking, it reminded me a lil bit melodically of Like It Was (and, y'know, also in the style of a torch song a la Follies)

I was going to say, I can see this show at least touching on the whole "spend big money on a wedding NOW WHAT" thing.

It happened to me too. I didn't /cry/ but oh god it HURT. I identified with You Stupid Bitch on a little bit of a surface level of self-loathing talk, but (Tell Me I'm Okay) Patrick really got me. All the 'DID I MISS SOMETHING EVERYONE ELSE IS NORMAL' talk and all.

After so many years of being called "weird" and feeling like she wasn't normal?

YOU CAN'T SHIT OUT YOUR FEELINGS, NATHANIEL. YOU CAUGHT THEM.

It made me think of Anyone Can Whistle (the title number from the show) though I know a little bit of that was projecting because…well, both songs resonated with me and had the feeling of not being "normal"

IT SURE DID.

it'd probably be pretty relaxing

I'm working on it, and you can too! (Therapy has helped.)

Masculinity is so fragile that Nathaniel needed to take a MAN NAP instead of….a nap.

His slow roll over to the bathroom topped that for me

This episode emotionally wrecked me a bit. Well, it at least punched me in the heart in a more direct way than other episodes. I mean, I'm a gal with depression and anxiety. I've struggled with feelings that I somehow missed out on a lot of "normal" things/occasionally feel detached from "normal" people. Not in, a,

to be fair, watching the CG lightning reflect in his eyes was pretty damn Magical. (I love that scene, okay because it's So Much)

I did go :/ at that. Like, I get what they were /going for/ (and it's not like I /hate/ the place I grew up, I just have more-than-usual weird baggage associated with it) but it did come across as 'ok I get what you were trying to do but as far as Big Statements go, this one is pretty 'nah'

all I want from Rebecca not going through with the wedding is a Getting Married Today-style number where she honestly realizes this is a terrible idea

It legitimately makes me happy /every time/

Rabbi Patti Lupone was great - "so Jewish, always questioning" and giving us some completely unsubtle NO REBECCA IT'S NOT THE BOY messaging because, girl, you still need it.

I kept trying to place what obvious musical inspiration "Who's The New Guy" had and the only thing I could come up with is….The Mystery of Edwin Drood, maybe?

Loved Rebecca and Valencia actually bonding (and taking Josh to task about all the shit he put them through.) Ladies realizing how amazing other ladies are is /always/ welcome.

Well, one version of the classic Dr. Alchemy anyway :)
