Harry and Meghan are firing back after the “we’re hiring outside counsel to investigate Meghan’s bullying, and there are more revelations” statement the other day.

Harry & Meghan seem smart enough to not divulge anything to a journalist that they wouldn’t want broadcast. Or, if they told her it was off the record and she spilled it anyway, they just won’t talk to her again.

I’m kind of surprised at Gayle King. Why is she stirring the pot some more. She gives the impression that she is above gossipy stuff and is more about ‘real’ news, but I guess not.

I think Lauren and Cam on Love is Blind touched on it a bit? Like them being an interracial couple wasn’t necessarily the main focus of the narrative, but it was certainly part of it. They were one of the sweetest couples on that show, and it was very easy to root for them. 

The only thing that keeps me going some days is the memory of my son’s 4th-grade teacher asking back a former student (my daughter) to read “I Am Jazz” to the class. She was in 7th at the time and the teacher had seen her go from cheerful boy to withdrawn and miserable boy to happy and confident girl. My daughter…

It’s absolutely horrible, but also should WE really be the ones to call it out? Because this is where we are heading to. There’s probably some American evangelicals who see this case as a great thing, and that is fucking disturbing.

Eanes ISD is in Travis County, but it covers a very white (and at least one very wealthy) unincorporated part of the County. And (also being from Texas and having worked in Austin), it does have some hard-core conservatives (it is the capital, after all), but you’ll find the actual residents of Austin are very blue…

I’m not shocked at all. As a city dweller that has to deal with friends and past significant others that have an annual inner debate about “moving to Austin” this is the kind of stuff I point to to change those minds

It goes way further back than that. Think of the record burning parties in the 50s (or 60s, whenever that happened in the US), or the Nazis burning books. The right has always tried to silence critics and people who are not like them.

I imagine there are many other school districts who will be more than happy to employ this teacher. That said, I’m a little surprised this happened in Austin. I mean, I know it’s Texas but everyone always claims that Austin is a tiny oasis in a state full of crazy. 

I don’t think it’s unique to them. Dance moms, volleyball moms, soccer dads, Little League dads. Some parents are too invested in their kids’ activities.

I seem to recall a cheer-mom in TX a few years back took out a hit on her daughter’s cheer-rivals.

Cancel culture has always been more of a right-wing thing anyway. Cancel culture started with the Hollywood Blacklist, and continued destroying the careers of anyone LGBT+, the Dixie Chicks, Colin Kaepernick, and a bunch of other people. They’re only mad about it now because it’s being used against them.

did they arrest her made up like that, or (gulp) did she deliberately make herself up like that knowing she’d have a mug shot taken?  Because that is freakish.
