There are ways you could update the fairytale (and not just the really smutty reverse herem story that I’m sure you could find on kindle unlimited) to make it more modern or quirky and subvert expectations.

Mine is a reverse herem.  The seven guys end up with her at the end, maybe with the prince also joining.  There is interesting sex.

Would they be working or would it be an educational experience. . . . . If it’s students it’s a bit different.

If you knew how ballet companies worked you’d be horrified.  Half of the dancers on the stage in your local ballet company are paying to be there (adults) and they are hoping to get a promotion to a position…

Expecting professionals to work for free is absurd.

I’m sure you can get teenagers if you’re looking for dancers to work for free.  Hell, they would pay for the opportunity.  Expecting that as adults is absurd.
