What if she’d done as badly on the other aparatus as she had on the Vault?  Then the team may have done worse than Silver.

Look up with Shirley Temple has said about her childhood if you want to be depressed.  It gets worse.

He’s a marketing genius.

Or did she do the right thing so she didn’t torpedo the teams chances. We don’t know how she looked during the warmup, it very well could have been that she was as off during her practices earlier in the day as she was during the competition and after that vault (which was pretty bad) it was decided that she shouldn’t

She got the injury before doing the one legged vault, so she was out regardless.

But, they were willing to risk disaster (what could have happened to her if she’d wiped out) because they didn’t care about her health.

Gymnasts were washed out at 17 back then.

Those girls who were subbed in at the last minute need to be praised.  They were amazing!

Took me two months to sechedule the referral appointments I needed to make.  I hate calling.

I think we got this because of the decision by the Gymnastics committees to make the teams so small.  They used to drop the lowest score.  So Simone could have gone out there and done the beam or the floor and if there was a disaster it would be ok.

I think it’s really interesting how Biles has changed gymnastics and I think the realization that gymnasts don’t need to be stick thin and would actually be better if they were stronger and suddenly they’re not getting injured and needing to retire at 17 anymore.

I’m guessing her coaches knew though.  They could do math.

It’s really horrifying when you look at how much those gymnasts were abused and just treated like crap with supreme indifference to their long term health. I remember every athlete had a horror story about the horrific injury they were competing on.

I wonder if they did know that it might happen though.  The alternates didn’t seem unprepared at all.  They were amazing.  I suspect that she knew something was off earlier in the day and the other girls were prepared in case they did need to go in.

Where is the more reasonable take that this was terrible but we can respect that she did what she needed to do.

I’m either seeing that she was selfish or she was a hero. In reality it was in between. This decision sucked, but it was much better than her going out and trashing the competition when she knew she was off

Modern Pentathalon for the pure unrelated aspects of the events required and that it’s all done in one day.

Fencing, swimming (200M), Horseback riding (on a horse they have never met), and then a lazer run where they have to run 800M and then target shoot (four laps).

All of those things are just so so different.

Also,

So, it’s basically Pretty Little Liars?

There are no condoms being provided this year.

This means that in 15 years we are going to have a new generation of super Olympians that were conceived this month.

It’s not surprising. Look who raised him. It’s not like his Father, his Grandparents or the schools he attended are known for their diversity or compassion.

Charles and Diana both gave extensive interviews to biographers.  Charles was not kind about his parents and his childhood in his interviews.

Makes your legs look longer.  My daughter is a dancer and does it with her leotards.

It doesn’t fit, she’s spilling out of it on the top of the cup.
