Well, because he's ill. If his cognitive functions were unable to give him remotely accurate information, and while under that delusion he honestly believed that he and Mary were having consensual sex, then there's no way he can be held accountable for what happened. If that, indeed, did happen.

No one was ever going to get shot in that stand-off. It's Doctor Who — you can't shoot people who look like people, particularly not ambiguous borderline cases. So it begs the question of why even do a scene like that if you can't follow through on the potential options. It's false drama. The best you were going to

Wasn't it just five years ago when people were cheering on serialised television? I mean, this isn't exactly the same thing, but it's about as close as this iteration of Doctor Who will conceivably get. Seems kinda strange.

Dude, the casting department on this show is fucking amazing.

Adorkable hot nerd dudes, probably more accurate.

For some, Edward Munch's The Scream is a picture of a man screaming. For others, The Scream is a picture of a man hearing a scream. Both arguments present intriguing points, but what’s interesting and ultimately most insightful is that such a divide in terms of how to interpret The Scream even exists. It shows that

It didn't look like that to me.

If she was trapped in an alternate reality made up of different iterations of standing sets, I'd agree with you.

No on-location shots

No, it doesn't.

I love bottle episodes.

If you liked what it was doing, then you're going to like what it continues to do. I'd keep going.

I thought this episode was fantastic, actually. Far more serious than the show usually goes for — making the title up there misleading, if not a complete mistake, one of several in the article* — which I was worried about for a while. Kept wondering where my humour was, where the jokes were, but then they pulled out

That's next week, I think.

Not great, There's a lot of expositional dialogue. This kind of thing can work really well, but this was not written by someone with a lot of experience (one can hope).

I think it's probably how most people watch television — when it's on in a waiting room, or when you're cooking dinner or cleaning the house. I don't think most people actually devote proper sit-down time to most stuff, and even then they're chatting, browsing the web or on their phones.

I hope it's consensual.

The last few episodes of this were actually quite good. The entire thing started playing out like an extended X-Files episode, rather than the typical schmaltzy Spielbergian stuff. Some surprisingly good kid acting too.

I don't have much to add — I think I'm a little exhausted from talking about the show this week — other than to say that I think the dude playing the Riddler is also quite good.
