They've already seen and reviewed The Rabbi's Cat, which got a brief Oscar-qualifying run. We have to wait until this year to see it (we might as well include Zero Dark Thirty on the list given that it doesn't expand until next week).

As far as Kickstarter cartoons go, I'm also excited to see if Masaaki Yuasa's Kick-Heart leads him to more success in the states and curious if John K. can recapture some of his old talent going independent with Cans Without Labels.

From the bits of plot we've heard about (the robots being ancient creatures with some sort of souls of their own, the pilots having to learn to synchronize) it could also be Evangelion Except Shinji's Now Idris Elba. Which sounds even better, but wouldn't sell as well to the mass market.

I agree it could have used more editing, but I thought moreso with the first hour (which is perfectly enjoyable but a bit loose and digressive) than the ending (which was pure awesome).
