Jurassic Park is probably the definitive tipping point, but as far as which CGI blockbuster deserves to make such a list, nothing comes close to the Lord of the Rings films (which I'd hope they can count as one since it was actually filmed as one).

It's set up as a comedy and is quite funny at points, but it ends up serious and tragic.

Is the Haruhi film really a good recommendation for someone who hasn't seen the series? It's very long, filled with complicated continuity references nobody who hasn't seen the show would get, and it assumes knowledge of the characters beforehand if you're really going to care about what's happening.

My favorites list (15 because it's hard to limit it to 10):

I'd put both Seven Samurai and Vertigo above Paths of Glory. And the '70s has so many great films I couldn't pick a definitive best (though Network might be my favorite).

Spirited Away is absolutely worthy. Have any animated films ever made these lists?

I think it may have something to do with Adult Swim taking the 9 o'clock hour and Cartoon Network wanting to be able to fit more shows into their extremely limited primetime space.
