It's not against Disney films, but it was very against Michael Eisner, modelling the villain after him. Katzenberg had some grudges to work out. Guess I exaggerated the wording to make a point how they were doing different things before they started doing the same thing over and over again (until they started doing

Dreamworks actually aimed pretty high with their first few features: a serious-minded Biblical epic, a political Woody Allen comedy, a scathing satire of Disney films (plus their work with Aardman, a studio that always aimed high). Of course that last one was the only major blockbuster out of those and then they kept

It's getting an Oscar-qualifying LA run in December and a limited theatrical release in March of next year.

"The" film Miyazaki came out of retirement for? So were Spirited Away and Ponyo. You could also count Porco Rosso if you wanted since he was expecting Ghibli to go under before Kiki's Delivery Service turned out to be a giant hit. The guy's "retired" so many times I'm not going to believe him when/if he ever does.

@EmElle:disqus : What sort of anime do your friends like?

Seeing as the Wachowskis are Democratic Party donors, I doubt they're against big-government in certain cases (of course, Alan Moore's an anarchist, but the movie does make some subtle but significant changes

Death Note and Fullmetal Alchemist (and Neon Genesis Evangelion was actually initially marketed as shonen before the parental complains started flying in). But if you're talking the sort of 100+ episodes fighting shonen, the only one that's consistently good IMO is Yuyu Hakusho (and that's not that much longer than

He was good in Kick-Ass, and I've heard good things about his Bad Lieutenant film, but yeah, Nick Cage must have one of the worst agents in Hollywood (or perhaps one of the best, since it's almost a charity giving such awful films a smidgen of entertainment value through the Cage).

I got maybe 200 pages into The Fountainhead. I was actually quite intrigued by it at first even though I didn't agree with all of the philosophy but by that point I realized it was just going to be restating the same damn points over and over again.
