Climate-controlling the interior of a vehicle uses an absolutely trivial amount of power compared to actually moving one — keeping your dogs cool while you shop on a hot day is almost free functionality in terms of power usage.

Disagree with the rotating mass comment. Radial engines have lower rotating mass than inline or V engines of similar displacement. This engine likely has a 700 ish cubic in displacement and a Big Block Chevy would have a higher rotating mass because of the giant crank and the need for a flywheel.
