For reasons that I’d rather not go into, this made my week.
For reasons that I’d rather not go into, this made my week.
I’m curious to see what kind of responses this gets, because I know a lot of people whose immediate, knee-jerk reaction to the question would be “absolutely not! No censorship or sugar coating of any kind!”. That’s a fine response if your kids are old enough to recognize and think critically about “problematic”…
Well, that explains that.
I work in the administration of one of those employment-related taxes, and I can tell you that the confusion in the first example is super common; a lot of employers assume that they can just report everything to the state where they’re headquartered, and it’s usually a CPA or payroll service that tells them they need…
This whole post smacks of “Should I do it? Should I do it? I’m hitting ‘post’! No, I’m clicking the button right now! Oh my god, it’s posted! No, I can’t take it back. Wait! Wait, the first comment just came in! Oh god, I can’t... You read it to me. I’m afraid to open it. You read it. Give it to me, I can handle it.”
We’ve lost sight of the true meaning of Amazon Prime Day.
Years ago when my employer was regularly bouncing between different health plans, I’d get a doctor who would tell me to take fish oil, garlic, D3, and a B supplement, and the next year I'd get a different doctor who would tell me they were all worthless. This cycle happened three times.
Unfortunately (?), thanks to this incident he’ll probably never be able to host a gender reveal party ever again.
I don’t think I’ll ever adopt the term charuterie board. The point is that everybody (but especially your picky 3-year-old) finds simple finger foods appealing.
Ooh, you’re right. That’s LSL6 (should I be embarrassed that I recognize it?), and while the colors and font aren’t the same, it's pretty similar.
Ah, good times. I made my share of Winamp skins, but the only one I ever used was based on the interface of Leisure Suit Larry 5, which was this ugly-as-sin combination of cyan and neon pink on a yellow background. The skin is long gone so I’d post a screenshot from the in-game control panel, except that 1) I don’t…
10/10 would recommend. I have fond childhood memories of this being my dad’s go to meal solution while my mom was working nights. He’d slice up whatever fruits and raw vegetables we had in the house, and arrange them on a platter with a little cheese and crackers. Minimal prep and cleanup, and if it wasn’t an exciting…
Agreed. My main point, really, is just about Unemployment laws, because it’s nearly impossible to pay someone for in-home care without the law considering them to be an employee, and can be an unpleasant surprise if you try to go it alone. Most of the programs I’ve worked with just contract with fiscal agents and…
This has been my problem, too. I listened to podcasts all day long at the office, but now I have regular interruptions from my young children which makes bulk listening impossible. Even after a few unsubscriptions and regular, judicious auditing (i.e., deleting episodes that will be obsolete by the time I get to them) …
In-home care is domestic employment, so people receiving pay in exchange for providing care to family members also need to be aware of Unemployment Insurance tax requirements which vary from state to state. Most states have exceptions in certain cases, but it depends on the relationship between the caregiver and the…
Oh, I’m not questioning it. Just applauding a better job than I’d have done.
I applaud your thoroughness. If I were writing a post to go with this headline, the body would just be “With a grain of salt, maybe some lime and tequila."
I had Snake Mountain, Photon, and about half of the Mad Magazine paperbacks behind the pocket D&D.
That was my experience, too. Several times I turned people on to HotBot by comparing it with other searcg engines, side-by-side in different browser windows (this was pre-tabbed browsing, obviously). HotBot always loaded faster and with better results.
I’m surprised at the outpouring of vitriol for a book that I’ve mostly seen highly praised (including by writers and comments on GMG websites), but I imagine a lot of people went through the same emotions I did when I saw the movie.
