Golf Story deserves to be on this list. Don’t take my word for it, just look up reviews of it, many of which will place it above most of these listed here.

as a punk/ska fan, this is relevant to my interests, i heard of them before but kind of forgot. youtube diving now.
That’d be me. I was the Marketing Manager at Atlus from about 1997 to 2006. When it came time to cut the trailer to sell the game into Gamestop and other retailers (We would create trailers that weren’t for public consumption and used solely for the purpose of selling the games into retail) and I was really into…
It was the reverse for me, I loved games like Final Fantasy Tactics which made the purchase of Disgaea a no-brainer. I missed all that promotional stuff with the song in it but there was one stage where Etna became the central character and The Invasion From Within started playing like it was her theme song and that’s…
Those lyrics, no kidding. Here I’ve now finally read the lyrics for the first time since owning the original Disgaea and I can still barely understand that what I heard was “English”. I mean, it is...
I want to know who had the idea to even put this in the game for the US release. It’s such an odd addition yet that trailer with this song is absolutely the reason why I fell in love with Disgaea and Tsunami Bomb.
I remember watching the video someone made with that song set to gameplay back in college. It was part of the reason I hunted down the game, and then after playing it a while I got kinda bored with it and stopped. I enjoyed the song/video more than the game basically.
I wish you had, Agent M has(imo) a great voice and the crowd always a great energy at every show I went to. Sort a turbulent time in my life and they were one of the bands that always played in the background for much of it. Thanks for the article Fahey! It’s nice to reminisce.
I don’t know about the game (not a fan of tactics games) but I now have a new band to listen to. Thanks, Fahey!
Oh wow. For the longest time, I thought I had made up Tsunami Bomb entirely in my head because the game (bought by my brother) inadvertently spawned a love for the band. But it was this song entirely that made the whole experience of Disgaea for me. I was an emo high school kid with a love for all things punk and this…
This trailer got me into Tsunami Bomb really hard for a while, I miss them :’(
So I guess no, I was getting Disgaea regardless... but the game did make me buy albums lol.
-_- still wish my original release copy of Disgaea hadn’t of been stolen though...
I support this sentiment fully.
Tsunami Bomb...damn. Brings back memories.
This song sold me on this game too! Hahaha what a small world!
I also bought this for the same reason, watched the trailer at a local Gamestop and thought the song was kinda cool, came back and bought it the next day.
Curiously at the time Disgaea was released, Tsunami Bomb was on the verge of disintegration. And yes, when you put the Japanese dub this song was nowhere, a good reason to enjoy the funny soundtrack of Tempei Sato.
“Look out ‘cause they are onto you
They’ll cut you open, crawl inside and you’ll be lost forever
Don’t try to run ‘cause you’re the chosen one
Your world is gone, no turning back
No way out!”
Liz from Luckie Strike had brain cancer. She was a drummer from another band we were friends with.
Haha, the song we least liked to play live. It was pretty fun though.
