While I understand the need for a standardized benchmark, doing well on a standardized test doesn't really measure your intelligence so much as your test-taking ability. My parents are both teachers, and I'm really grateful that they emphasized how much test-taking is a skill rather than an indicator of natural

Hahahaha oh god my math score on the GRE was HILARIOUS. And by hilarious, I mean you know how in Harry Potter the lowest grade on the O.W.L's you can get is a T for Troll?

I know. My reaction to this being on the list was basically YOU TAKE THAT BACK YOU TAKE THAT BACK RIGHT NOW.

My mom's rule was nothing drastic (blue hair, mohawks, etc) if there was a major event coming up that would involve photographs. So basically, look *normal* for senior pictures and your aunt's wedding, and then go nuts. This was a good rule, as shortly after his senior pictures my brother decided to dye his

Huh, interesting. Do you know if these restrictions would apply to women in the process of miscarrying? As in, a doctor would have to force a woman to look at an ultrasound before performing a d&c?

The Halappanavar situation has me wondering— could these rules be used to deny a woman an abortion even if she is miscarrying? I do know women who have had a d&c rather than wait for all the fetal tissue to be expelled. Are those classified as "abortions" or something else?

I've hosted a few big thanksgivings, and my rule is more than 6 people= disposable plates. It's a lifesaver.

**Spoiler alert for the plot of a remake of a 30 year old movie**

I started commenting just after the first year or so, and MAN some people were mean just because I was *new*. I agree that the tone here has overall gotten nicer, especially from the long-term commenters.

The thing I don't get is that Edward is always really cold, right? WHO WANTS TO SNUGGLE WITH A BLOCK OF ICE? I already *am* a block of ice most of the time, and 50%* of why I married my husband is that he willingly acts as my personal space heater.

Let's be real. *Everyone* is team Jacob.

It definitely depends on perspective. I'm 5'2, and I'm constantly describing people as "really tall" and then my husband rolls his eyes (because he's 6'1) and points out that 5'10 isn't exactly "really tall." So it's all relative, because to me, 5'10= really tall, 6'1= super duper tall, 6'4= motherfucking giant.

It's not consensual for *either* of them really. From what I remember, he has no choice of whom he imprints on, and she sort of has a choice to accept his love but his love will be so all encompassing only a monster would reject him. So in theory she could turn him down, but "that sort of devotion is hard to ignore"

HA! That's an awesome idea, because yes, my inner 7 year old still loves neon. And my "my parents wouldn't buy it because it's *too expensive* treat" is character shaped Kraft Mac and Cheese. So everyone once and I while I buy it, because I'm a motherfucking ADULT and no one can stop me.

WAITING FOR YOU, THAT'S WHERE.

Ha! I'm from rural Wisconsin, so I'm not at all surprised that we were a decade behind trend. Our grunge peak was probably 1996-97.

Always happy to help a fellow history nerd. But a disclaimer: I read these for class a while ago, so while they are *historically useful* I make no promises that they are interesting. Historians can be fucking boring sometimes (and I am one, so I'd know). Enjoy!

I will join you in this fashion dictatorship and we shall rule the world. My current crusade: those stupid sleeveless shirts with giant armpit holes (that go down to the waist) that girls are wearing with sports bras underneath and tights-as-pants. Inevitably, they are in neon green, pink, or orange, and I'm all,

Does that still work when you've dismissed the comments? And thanks for the advice and confirmation that I'm not going crazy. And yeah, these are definitely trolls: one just said "fuck you, you fucking n*gger bitch."

So this is sort of off-topic (but related to nasty comments, I guess?) but has anyone seen a real sharp increase in trolls/nastiness today? In the past 30 minutes, I've gotten two different but horrifying comments, one on a post I made yesterday and one on the Chanel post. I've dismissed them both, but they
