I think it really does go a bit deeper than that. I’m almost fully deaf and I won’t wear my hearing aids because A) it gives me anxiety if I hear something I’m not familiar with and b) many people believe that when hard of hearing or deaf people put them in that they can magically hear. It doesn’t quite work that way…
