I think he's pro cop in a David Simon kind of way. I also think he created Mickey Haller just for the sake of writing from a point of view he more closely relates to.

The thing is, this movie is what you describe…for about 140 minutes. It then shoves its head firmly up its ass for no apparent reason. It actually seems like it got focus fucked, like people couldnt deal with the fact that space is a terrifying, awesome deathtrap, and it literally does not need nor care about us.

The new Murakami is excellent. Some have complained that its too straightforward but I found it to be more emotionally accessible.

I may be biased here, considering I count the Toy Story Trilogy amongst the greatest films of all time, but I think Pixar deserves a lot of credit on the feminist front, its just that the statements are subtle.

Just so people know, Ellroy's public persona is there simply to get a rise out of people. Anyone who has read the books would know that he is actually kind of sentimental.
