Is it just me, or is it still available on Google Play?

Easier said than done sometimes.

Seriously, has no one heard of MP3packer? It compresses MP3s losslessly. It works best with 320kbps MP3s. Not all files will compress much, but depending on the codec used, there is often a significant difference: I've had entire albums compressed from 320kbps to an average of ~270kbps.

I understandably see why many people wouldn't have faith in RIM anymore. Sam Biddle et al seem to want RIM to fail, and fail hard. Granted, I almost made the jump to Android or WP7, but I realized that RIM is trying really damn hard to win back consumers' trust in the BlackBerry brand. The Playbook's software is truly

Agreed. It's like they want RIM to fail.

I agree; there definitely needs to be a third option!

I never had a Chipolte, but the iPhone experience is subjective, as is food, Mat. Opinion articles like yours need to be prefaced as such to minimize the appearance of flamers; e.g.,"The opinions expressed in this article do not reflect the opinions of Gizmodo. Please don't flame the author."

Once the update comes out and developers start to see the real potential the tablet has, it will become more popular than many of you may think. I can't imagine it trumping the iPad (maybe on par with some of the more popular Android tablets), but it will become a hit nonetheless.

This is the first global outage I've heard of regarding RIM. This isn't going to make me ditch them; then again, I don't run a company or oversee corporate cell phone usage. I've had very little issues over the years with my BlackBerry aside from this outage.

I see what you mean by losing money, and that's common sense from a business perspective, but the people in your company will be losing top-notch security. Do iPhones even have IT policies? What happened over the past few days was unfortunate and inconvenient for many people, but it was a very rare incident. Jumping

So, what, a few days of outage, and they're switching? RIM very rarely has any downtime aside from this incident. I guess most people don't realize this. Patience is a virtue, not a burden.

If this indeed drives the industry "forward", we can all look forward to spelling out our own doom. I suppose there will always be people who want a solution so simple that they don't need to put forward much effort whatsoever; i.e., the technologically inept. The smarter people are effectively dumbing down the rest

What I said is true, but I'm glad I could amuse you, anyway. Anybody want to wager actual money on this?

That's because most people don't have faith in them anymore based on their past blunders, and I don't blame them.

@mricyfire - They actually have two co-CEOs, but I agree; the management is what has been failing this company. RIM could have also done better with their marketing. They are starting to make improvements on those areas as of late, though. Also, the market is already saturated with Apple and Android products, so I'm

They've acquired TAT, JayCut, and NewBay within the past year. If they're not aiming for something huge with all these acquisitions, I don't know what else could possibly be happening. QNX (or BBX as it is now been rebranded) is going to make a huge splash. More and more developers are coming on board to PlayBook

Lousy phones, Sam? Really? Do you even keep up with BlackBerry news at all? Their stock is about to go up significantly.

Apple didn't need much insight to begin with. Steve Jobs had the idea for the iPad before he came up with the iPhone, which had already proven itself to be a winner. They just made it larger, removed the phone capabilities, stuck the same OS on there, and voila!

I agree with you on the price; however, the PlayBook only seems small because Apple has already saturated the market with the 10" iPad. It has become the norm. The PlayBook doesn't need a huge screen for the vast majority of what it does. The only downside I can see to the screen size is that using LogMeIn or a VNC

You're implying that it's not. Have you looked at the specs lately? Don't equate the app selection to the POWER of a tablet, either.
