i agree 100%, but for the money you really can't beat it, especially for a kid who doesn't care about cars or know how to really take care of them.

My parents just bought my brother an 04 Acura RL, all loaded up, for $9,300 out the door. It has less than 100k on it and was pristine. About as good of a value for your dollar as i've seen recently.

It's really just the 1.8T (ask me how i know) and the fact that stupid kids (again ask how i know) get their hands on cheap things with turbos at 16 years old. Stuff breaks.
