The industries of the 2 cities are completely different. With the universities, government hubs, and national offices, DC has a lot of intellectual and financial capital (relatively). Baltimore’s more industrial roots and the breakdown of that has really hurt it. Not as many people commute from Baltimore to DC as one

So $15 an hour translates to about $2,500 a month. That’s “liveable” in quite a lot of places. Some might even be considered within the “greater metropolitan areas” of the cities on this list (looking at Baltimore and Nashville for examples).

What I want to see is how many places you can actually live in for $15/hr. I keep hearing about it being a “living wage,” but I’ve zero clue where you could actually pull it off and under what conditions.

Baltimore is a lot poorer than DC. DC proper has tons of people making 6 figures and even staffers making upper 5's. Baltimore really doesn’t have a whole lot going for it.

Would have never happened if Papelbon remembered to shut the door.

That’s Pietro Tomaselli. He’s 11, and he plays for one of the youth squads for AS Roma.

Can’t do much for your national team if your club team isn’t giving you the opportunities. With that in mind, I hope this kid experiences all of the success in the world at Sunderland.

From all indications, everything that Johnson said is 100% accurate. The program is bleeding money, ticket holders, boosters, etc. Very poor athletic administration since the guy who hired both Ryan and Pearl left.

Our house has 4 levels, so I try never to go up or down a flight of stairs without a quick check to see if I can take something with me, back to its correct level. Low effort, but definitely makes a difference.

Those tears got that child and her family a personal invitation to the White House Easter Egg Roll this year! Sigh. Damn kids have all the luck.

I love his obvious joy at spending time with all children. I love his genuine charming enthusiasm for everything. You can see the dorky smart eleven-year-old he must have been inside, still thinking”I can’t believe I get to do this for part of my job!”

It’s so beautiful...

Thing about that is that aliens, at least, are real.

Are we gonna make contact with aliens or find someone that likes Ted Cruz first?

“Excuse me, ma’am? Ma’am!? Do you have a minute to discuss ethics in gaming journalism?” MA’AM?!?”

Now playing

Unfortunately, stupid attitudes haven’t really changed in 50 years. Women were only allowed to compete in the bobsled starting in 2002 because they were deemed “fragile”.

I’m reminded of another famous Boston photograph.

First Cloney, outfitted in a fedora and overcoat, physically tried to stop Switzer, but she avoided his clutches.
