How fucked up is it that while I used to get ragey, #yesallmen about this kind of shit, I now just feel defeated?

Maybe they were at a party and she thought it would be fun but not involve rape. Do you know how many guys have taken drugs from someone at a party without the expectation that they would be raped?
Sounds like from the story that it was ecstasy. People take ecstasy all the time and don’t get raped for it.
Alright. That does it. It is a billion degrees outside and not a single degree cooler in my house. I have been called a whore already today for arguing that Dumpenfloofer is not qualified for the role of President since he stated that he has no intention of fulfilling the duties of the office and now this. Fuck…
What I’ve learned from this story is that no matter what kind of depraved shit people have done there is always some asshole looking to one up them.
I have a funny feeling this is Sebastian Moran — and he’s not terribly happy about his employer’s death.
I mentioned this when Jez posted the trailer yesterday, but I’m really hoping we can get back to Sherlock and Watson solving crimes, rather than the boring, self-important dwelling on Sherlock’s “mind palace” and shit. Let’s get out of Sherlock’s head and back into the real world, where there’s more Watson and less…
I really want to know how Kim Richards keeps getting away with allowing her dog to viciously attack people. I get that her sister wasn’t going to report her for what Kingsley did to her daughter but I’m fairly certain this is the 4th or 5th person attacked by him. I don’t think the dog should be put down but…
only to find it empty after going inside.
Same here. And I go back even further - I grew up on DC in the 70's with Super Friends and started reading the comics in the 80's. I stuck with them, even if my focus was on other things from time to time, for almost 30 years. Gave them up in 2011. And periodically a story like this comes out that reminds me that I…
I don’t watch much Joss Whedon because I find him repetitive and his characters annoying, but a friend who does watch his work on occasion says he hasn't aged well.
Sorry, but I’ve been saying for years that Whedon’s rep as a feminist creator is hugely overblown. It’s actually nice to see (some) public perception catching on to it.
The core problem is lack of representation. When you have a bunch of women in your movie, they can be flawed in different ways and be relatable to different women. When you have one woman, she basically represents all women; if she’s handled badly, or is flawed, it makes the whole thing seem sexist.
I didn’t watch much Buffy until I was an adult, maybe five or six years ago, and I was unimpressed after I had been hearing since 1997 that it was such a progressive and feminist show. There was a lot to like. Buffy us indeed a dynamic character, and the show did serialize storytelling quite well, but I was…
Since Whedon has turned Black Widow into the motherly type in his films, he would really only have three options with what to do with her in a solo film. He could either ignore it, which would ruin the continuity he established (and we all know how dedicated he is to continuity). He could embrace it, making her a…
Buffy isn’t that great. On rewatch, it’s actually massively sexist (both against women and men) and is riddled with some really severe problems. Joss’s form of ‘feminism’ is definitely not mine.
Yeah, I wouldn’t hold my breath on a Man of Steel sequel with the two of them involved.
please tell me this is Darryl
Chris Hemsworth is thisclose to actually launching a career as a comedic actor. Seriously. He can’t open a non-Thor action movie on his own and the dramas failed. Basically he’s the new Dwayne Johnson. A tall, good-looking muscle bound man who shines more when he jokes and smiles than when he grunts and punches.
Way funnier than reading it on a page, unfortunately.
