“...slips back into coma”
Poor Bucky, he has no bed linens and he didn’t get to eat his damn plums!
There were SO MANY times during that movie that I wanted to yell “make out!” at the screen. Just, God bless Marvel for giving us so much beautiful fantasy material.
Arrow just had a major death and it did jack shit other than angering fans.
After certain events in Captain America: Civil War, I was somewhat expecting/dreading this announcement.
You’re free to do what you want, ABC/Disney, but just know I will hunt each of you down and kick you in the head with my pumps.
Yeah, in Ultron they threw Hawkeye some development as a red herring and then killed off the random new hero who was something of a villain for most of the movie. It didn’t really have a lot of impact for me.
Um. The superspeed that Fox used was completely unprecedented as far as I know. Quicksilver in DoFP was the best part of the entire series. Him plucking bullets out of the air was probably the best visual effect since bullet time in the Matrix.
Hahahaha no, Quicksilver’s death served no purpose. Not even Wanda had any on screen damage from it. I mean hell, in Civil War her screw up is the only thing on her mind, not her brother’s death - which was a result of the Avengers.
It’s also a way for cheap gravitas that ultimately has no meaning. In all the talk of death in Civil War, was Quicksilver mentioned or even alluded to even once? Any suggested mourning on the part of his sister? Exactly. It was completely meaningless. Utter faux gravitas.
I dunno. Even though Rhody didn’t die, his deadstick impact had way more much in-crowd gasp than the reveal that Quicksilver sacrificed his life to save Hawkeye / that kid (actually no gasp at all).
Plus Rhody’s rehab scene / his hindsight on his initial backing the Sokovia Accords gave a permanence to the Avenger’s…
SPOILERS
You can see the agony on Scarlet Witch’s face when Ross is showing the video of Sokovia’s footage. In the trailer, that’s when Steve says “okay that’s enough”, because he’s reading Wanda.
Not when it’s your go-to move.
Whedons gonna Whedon
I don’t see why they need to keep raising the stakes in order to make good movies. I mean, its completely unsustainable. Stories don’t need to get more tragic/dangerous/deadly/crazy with every installment. If they do, you end up with Boo.
No one died in Civil War because they’re probably going to start dropping like flies in Infinity Wars.
I think that really only works though if the character is well established/well liked, and Quicksilver just wasn’t important enough to make that kind of impact - it was like one level above a redshirt dying. They don’t even ever mention Red Witch losing her brother in Civil War that I can recall.
It was probably extra cool for both of them since they actually knew each other and had worked together beforehand.
