This is mesmerizing.

I believe the technology is improving for the egg freezing. You’re right about the rest. I’m surprised at the Conservatives who believe that children are the parents property to do with as they please in education /healthcare/ discipline but they will deny those same parents the right to their property with a few

You don’t know if an egg is going to work until it’s fertilized. You get less of them per cycle than you’ll get sperm. Also, freezing doesn’t guarantee it will defrost, so if you freeze all of them, but almost all of them are stinkers, you might also damage the ones that could have become embryos. My clinic has (as of

They must have been practising on that Kinect Star Wars game

It was a bit of a rough routine and they missed some beats, but it was fun to watch and I don’t begrudge them whatever that golden button means.

Then I wish they would work that problem instead of creating more with the embryos.

I'm no lawyer but it seems like the most straight forward solution would be to require every couple to create if-then contracts and honor those contracts in court. Maybe put in a provision for being able to amend the contract while both parties are on good terms, BEFORE any kind of litigation begins.

Not end of problem. Human eggs react badly to being frozen. Much more so than sperm and embryos.

When couples split, they’re forced to reconcile ownership of material goods like houses and cars, but embryos have increasingly become the site of numerous lawsuits between exes, many of whom argue that embryos simply cannot be treated as mere property.

YES! I don’t understand it?! “I, the undersigned, knowledgablely and of sound mind affirm that the embryos will only be fertilized upon the established, voluntary and contemporary consent of BOTH partners.”

As I understand it (and I could be behind the times for sure) eggs often don’t freeze well on their own. That’s why the embryos are created in many cases. Sperm of course freezes just fine.

People should be able to freeze eggs and sperm separately and that’s it. No embryos. You get implanted and the egg and sperm meet on demand only. You break up or get divorced, everybody keeps what’s their own.

It should just be treated as it would have years ago before we had the technology to even do all of this crap: when a couple breaks up they no longer have the right to bring forth new life together. Destroy the embryos.

Fuck those judges who decide the contracts aren’t applicable. Because that’s the easiest way to settle a dispute: to do it before it happens. Fuck them sideways.

Sigh. Grrrr. Yes to everything everyone else is saying. I’m still bummed she didn’t end up with Finn Polmar. And what the fuck ever happened to Robin? And why did Lucca become Paula from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend? Cush Jumbo is great but her character apparently cares more about Alicia’s love-life and career than her own.

When they got rid of both Will and Kalinda AND then went a step further by butchering any emotion link between Diane, Carey, and Alicia, I basically had no investment in the show.

The first five seasons are great. It fell apart a little bit in the last two. (Well, and season 4 is a little rough. But there’s still a lot of good stuff.)

I have been a fan of Marguiles as an actress since ER but man do I dislike her over the Kalinda situation. She was on a brilliant show that featured an outstanding relationship and for whatever personal reasons there were, Panjabi got booted and the show never recovered from the loss. It went from a show I watched

I rather like having a more youthful May. It is a lot more realistic that a 15 year old would have a 50-something aunt than the 60/70-ish May of the comics.
