Grew up on Dr. Who too! That was definitely a staple. Caribbean kids grow up watching lots of British tv, US sci-fi/fantasy shows and soaps. Particularly Days.

pretty much

Aw, man. Permanently applied cultural appropriation?

The issue addressed in your opening comment was about the woman’s age. I gave you an example of a parent that was older than normal. My dad is still active, running his own business, healthy, and looking forward to living longer.

Insufferable to you, maybe. I don’t get annoyed when a woman has a strong loud opinion. I still like her.

Her bottom lip tattoo looks a lot like a Maori woman’s moko, which is on the chin. Interestingly, her henna-looking hand tattoo used to be Ta Mako as well (done in Wellington by a celebrated Maori artist) but she covered it up, much to every Kiwi’s dismay.

My dad was 60s/70s when I was a teenager. He’s 83 now and I’m in my late 20s.

Rihanna was the one thing that almost got me to see Battleship even though it looked like a flaming wreck. (She was also great, briefly, in This Is The End?) Give her a moderately good vehicle, Hollywood, pleeeeeeeeease.

I’m definitely ready for her to explore the big screen in a serious way. I think she’d be a natural at acting.

Growing up in Barbados there wasn’t much of a choice. Back when I was younger and Rih would have been a few years younger, there was only one tv station and every Saturday at 6pm Star Trek Next Gen aired. Any Bajan could probably recite Picard’s opening credits narration without thinking about it.

Q: how do you get space maori? Her “tattoos”/clothes don’t look particularly Maori to me but I am very ignorant.

My first thought also! I want to see the movie where Rihanna is an unknowable cosmic entity that challenges the crew of the Enterprise to comprehend her true goals and power.

Maybe I’m a sadist, too.

Video is stunning and she’s gorgeous even eyebrowless. Makes me wish this was an actual movie she starred in, that details more about her ancient being element manipulating self.

Dont know about the desired concept, but the henna hands are permanent though it’s a tattoo.

Riri loves Star Trek? Wow, she really is perfect. I love the new set of films and am so sad about Anton Yelchin!

I was talking about dill. Jeez.
