Man, this show has become really solid.  I think the 'meeting in the middle of the quirky spectrum' thing is pretty spot on: Jess has become less twee and one-note, while the rest of them have developed something that could pass for character.

That song just made me want to throw on some Stereolab.

Well, fuck.  Now I will never be able to watch New Girl without expecting Neal McDonough to show up and start viciously beating on Schmidt, nor will I be able to watch Justified without hearing Deschanel's voice every time Quarles shows up.

Ha!  I didn't see that at the time, but I remembered Pitchfork hyping that band pretty heavily for a while, and then never hearing of them again.

Ooooooooooooooooooooh

You people didn't already know 'post hoc ergo propter hoc'?  What, did you go to public school?

It definitely took a few episodes to find its stride, and the obstacles to understanding the finer points of life at the racetrack could've been better addressed (I agree the outsiders were a nice touch), but I think the pleasures the show had on offer from the word go were more than enough to offset them.

Oh, that reminds me - what was Walter's final line?  Something about "[gravel-voiced grumble] but from all sides a man" or something.  Anyone catch that?

I'd like to meet these lackwits who called this show "bad" or "boring," and I'd like to kick them right in their goat-sacks.

I hope that dream comes true for you.  You deserve it.

And speaking of, at what point did that become a thing in porn?  I mean, obviously there are more, uh, personal bodily fluids being exchanged in all sorts of orifices, but at some point men and women just up and started spitting in each others' mouths.

I thought the faking paralysis thing was a little dumb.  Now I realize the show was playing the long game.

With all the talk about Cougar Town I've read round these parts, I decided to give it a try.

They hit different comedy receptors.  Archer traffics in surprise and delight; Louie marshals anxiety and melancholy.  Both have legitimate and distinguished lineages.

I think Louie can make a credible claim to that title, but otherwise … yeah.  Sorry, network sitcoms.

I got Ed Norton last time I got my hair cut.

The first part as funny as Community's been recently, but by the end … yeah.  You got to keep that stuff tamped down.

Let me guess.  Syfy is owned by NBC/Universal/Kabletown, right?

I want to go to there.

Apocalypse World.  It's excellent in a lot of ways, but not least of them is the fact that the rules are bog simple, and the amount of set-up for players & the GM is very, very low.  It's a great game for anyone who doesn't have the hours to spend on world- and character-generation that they might've in high school &
