I guess we’ll have to hear about Debra Messing from here to eternity. Sigh.

He’s had a long history of actual activism so this seems like a natural step. He’s one of the few celebs who I don’t see any of his charitable actions as being for image in any way.

ah yes, because victims are not allowed to experience joy and be really fucking complicated. nice take.

Yes, she surely is a force, the camp is definitely there in Nine Perfect Strangers even if the story is lacking, but I’m sure that return to zany fun is great to see again. Also Just Go With It is worth it just for her scenes.

I’m actually fan of Bewitched, where she revives a sitcom role and does great with it. I’m thinking more of her recent stuff, which has tended toward the more serious -- though admittedly this might be me having watched Big Little Lies season 1 but not Nine Perfect Strangers. She’s also funny and zany and Moulin

This case doesn’t seem to be about ego, if anything let’s hope it will inspire others.

“Kidman roles have her speaking in a sorrowful whisper, it’s admittedly a kick to see her fire off brassy, bossy zingers”

It’s always nice to see a rich person who is able to admit to themselves that they have enough.

Took too long to get to the potato, but “Golden Girls” was an excellent answer. I’m stealing it.

Spoilers from last week’s show but here’s Tom Holland talking about when he first met Henry Cavil.

Now playing

The greatest talk show ever. Nowhere else will you get Mark Ruffalo and James McAvoy riding around stage on unicycles while Meryl Streep watches.

True but I still pass by Hell’s Kitchen (use to work near there in the mid to late 90's what a shithole) and it’s still suspect late at night.  I think it also could be Spidey has been out and about New York in the day time while DD is out in the city at night.

Holy fuck, I’m so glad I’ve paid for the Defector these past 3 months. Jesus this is a nightmare and AV Club and the Root are the only two of the sister sites on this website that I enjoy.

This is an issue I’ve encountered a lot at work, and people who are being accused of being inappropriate are wayyyyyyyy more defensive than the people who are on the receiving end of the bad behavior. I now do the compliment sandwich when addressing it: “Jokes can be funny! And that joke was completely inappropriate

It’s from the Vanity Fair article this is based off of. Here’s a relevant quote:

Respectfully, that’s a generalization like locker room talk or everyone does that. Plenty of actors don’t do that things like that, whether from small local plays to big film sets. And generally, the bigger the job and the more money and people involved, while there’s allowances, there’s also more incentive to make

Or, how about this: He’s been in HR at least once a year over the past 3 years to discuss his behavior. At that point, I’m not sure “standards have changed” is not much of an excuse. Also, I work with older people who have never had to go into HR. Because, the concept of professionalism is actually quite old and

I mean best case... and most likely case from having read the article... is he is wildly out of touch.

If I threatened people, that’s an unsafe work atmosphere.”

Saying “Oh, my vagina” in a jokey way is one of those things that’s probably perfectly acceptable to say in front of a group of friends, but if I said that at work I would be called out. Even if I was a long term employee, you still need to watch what “jokes" you're making in front of mixed company. That should be
