So there are two types of dogs, professionally trained service dogs and pets. Comfort animals aren’t a thing. If your anxiety or physiological issues are so great you need a companion animal at all times it should be a service dog that is trained to assist in emergency situations.

I cringe every time I see someone bring an animal into a store. We went from dogs being pets to pets replacing children and everybody else having to go along with it. They’re still animals.

All pets are emotional support animals. That’s why people have pets. If you can’t be without your pet for a few hours, then you need better support from your therapist. Maybe stores selling food will get the idea and keep pets out, too.
