It doesn’t sit right with me how people are cherry-picking certain parts of his bit while ignoring the greater context. He expressed a great deal of sympathy and understanding, even if he teed up those moments with offensive jokes. To me that seems by design. To encourage sympathy from those who might not really think

Yeah. The ending was kind of happy in the sense that the real world couple and their digital counterparts beat the odds. But depressing in the sense that people are using thousands of digital beings to run a single calculation for a dating app. Extrapolate that and you’re talking about a future world where billions of

Also just need to add, petitions like this one are stupid. I didn’t like it but don’t care if others enjoyed it, and certainly don’t care if it’s considered canon.

Luke is kind of a stick in the mud the whole movie. He’s remorseful and wants to isolate himself from the larger conflict. Finally he does an about face and saves the good guys by projecting his image to distract the big bad. Then he dies from exhaustion. It’s fine but IMO not a great sendoff for a beloved character.

Yes, agreed, I worded that poorly. I grew to like those characters in TFA and was looking forward to this chapter. But in the movie I felt disconnected from them. They really wasted Finn this go around.

This seems like a straw-man argument. Most of the backlash I’ve seen isn’t directed at the subversion. Personally I didn’t like the movie as a whole but I loved the throne room scene, as one example. I also like that Luke fooled Kylo with a force projection. It’s possible to appreciate the subversion and the attempt

I didn’t attempt to use RT to decide it’s worth. Nice try though.

The fan backlash has been significant enough that the filmmakers thought it was appropriate to comment on the matter. But ok. Not trying to say that RT is the word of God. Merely pointing out that quite a few people did not like the movie. But way to latch onto one statistic and ignore the rest of my point.

What’s my point? A lot of people didn’t like the movie. That doesn’t make them bad people. That’s pretty fucked up to imply.

Also, no need for name-calling. Everyone has their own opinion of the film. This one has clearly been divisive (56% audience approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes). Fair to say a lot of people didn’t connect with the material. Anyway, the whole point of my post is that plot holes aren’t what’s ruining the movie for

Clearly you don’t get it if you think plot holes are the problem. Also, no need to call people dongs. We’re all allowed to have our own opinion about the film. Obviously a lot of people didn’t connect with this one (56% audience approval rating on RT). To each his own.

Neither the audience nor the characters have any emotional connection to a single thing you just listed. Many of the consequences you’ve outlined have nothing to do with the contrived failures of the protagonists. Rose’s sister was dead before she went on her doomed mission, for example.

People bring up the failure metaphor as if it wasn’t plainly obvious. One of the characters (I think it was Yoda) literally spells it out. That’s a great theme and all. Doesn’t salvage the movie. Especially when the “failure” is a bunch of contrived nonsense that doesn’t actually result in meaningful loss. What

People complain about plotholes when they don’t enjoy a movie. In this case it’s likely they felt emotionally disconnected from everything that was happening on screen because of shoddy characters with flimsy connections. Characters and their relationships were under-serviced because the disjointed movie was packed

Question: If the ball had left his hands after it hit the ground, would it be considered a fumble? If yes, then this should be considered a complete pass.

I recently started a new playthrough of the Pikmin trilogy. Currently working my way through Pikmin 2. Meanwhile my PS4, Xbox One, PC backlog piles up. I really love this franchise. It’s kind of sad that we’ve only seen 3 proper titles in 16 years. Fortunately they’re infinitely replayable if you enjoy trying to beat

I had to go and listen to this track after commenting.

I had a similar experience with Okami. I was so hyped for it after seeing trailers and gameplay footage. But when I finally got my hands on it I just found it to be mind numbingly boring. I gave up on it after a dozen hours or so. I’ve always felt like I should give it another chance since everyone and their mom seems

Haven’t they been acting badly? They’ve been caught throttling, favoring their own content, extorting Netflix, etc.

I live in one of the biggest cities on earth. I have a whopping 2 choices!
