Nope, I had that expectation as well, how it happened was the unexpected part. This now makes Rogue One the “true” Suicide Squad.

Right on, I use a mixture of both. When I used to lift heavy I would use the machines because heavier free weights just freaked me out if I didn’t have a spotter available. Eliminate risk whenever possible.
In a way yes, free weights will be more beneficial to your stabilizers (additional muscles in the preferred group). Machines are good for people that are just starting out, to teach form and they are also good for people that may have prior injuries and need to strengthen said areas.
