There is no reason, I have had 2 android phones now (samsung epic and HTC EVO LTE) and have not had any problems except a few force closes and when I looked at the programs that were crashing i realized they were just sprint/samsung/htc crapware so i installed a stock rom or cyanogen and haven't had a problem since.…
android is extremely easy to root if you are not on AT&T, you don't need to worry about anything just the model of your phone. Its just a matter of downloading the tool and running it, even if your phone doesn't have a one click method rooting manually takes just a few commands in ADB.
there are online options for subscribing to sports that you could get along with netflix or hulu. cant help with the wife thing.
every oven i have used has only the bottom element on in "bake" mode while the top and bottom are on in "broil" mode
the broiler on an electric oven normally is "all around heat" meaning the top and bottom elements are on, so it makes perfect sense that it would heat faster.
