A more close definition of salvation is a form of enlightenment in the context of eternal life (and also saved from death). Damnation is opposition, and refusing an invitation.

there are plenty of non-theistic philosophies. they don't have the inherent weakness of being set up against anyone. Other religions also make this mistake to a small and larger degree, but i only quote my own faith's mistakes.
