I'll admit to not having read all of your posts - there are a lot - but I haven't spotted a single admissal of a mistake that hasn't been wrapped in even more offensive words.

Heh. Touché.

I totally agree with you, and I've heard exactly the same stuff from people about my appearance. But I end up wondering if people would still say those things to me if tanning wasn't so ubiquitous in our culture.

I can understand it to be like the ethical dilemma of wearing second-hand fur*. Sure, the animals were already dead by the time the coat got to you, but by wearing it you're still sending a message that fur is desirable and glamorous. Which contributes to an increase in demand for more - and consequentially fresh -

Actually, I disagree. They smoothed everything out - including the knickers - in the other one. I think someone else is right in saying they were making it family-friendly. Because families and boobs should be kept apart at all costs.

I don't know, they definitely cover a lot of the same ground, but this article seems to focus more on the controlling aspects of her former relationship. I think it's interesting, given that before she didn't seem to have anything negative to say about the people in her life.

Now playing

Yeah, it is a gold mine for satire. I guess that's an upside?

What would you have lost by saying "people like you" instead of "blacks like you"? Why did you feel it necessary to highlight the race of the person you're interacting with? Is making the same points repeatedly out of frustration an exclusively black trait? Are you engaging in BCM tactics when you do that, or are you

This is a really articulate summary of the problems that a lot of people had with both the article and how things have played out in the comments. Even though most of your points have been covered already, I hope seeing them laid out so clearly helps them to resonate with Krystl.

Yeah, that derailing for dummies link is pretty rad. I have to start bookmarking these things.

Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible to take any growth you've made very seriously when you're still dismissing people here as belonging to a black consciousness mafia. That's just.....can you really not see how that's problematic?

Those links are great, and the first one in particular *floored* me. That was some change-the-way-I-see-the-world stuff, right there.

I'm glad it made you happy! This whole thing has been really hard for me to put out of my thoughts as well. It's stirred up a whole lot of feelings for me, and I'm not even a WoC. I can't begin to imagine how triggering it could be for other women on this site. Anyway, good luck on your finals study!

Thanks jolene - returning the heartage for your consistently insightful and articulate points about this whole thing.

Step off, hussy! That gentleman has a wife and baby at home.

You just have to get yourself into Deep & Meaningful Conversation territory - go somewhere relaxing (or stay home) with a bottle of wine or a cup of tea, and just jump in! Whatever it is that you want to tell them about yourself, ask the questions you would want to be asked, and then tack your own response on after

About the Occam's razor bit - I thought I might have been unclear with that, sorry. I just meant that the simplest explanation to me when people are claiming to be offended is that they actually are offended. The idea that people would lie about being offended in order to either garner praise from a 'Black

Oh, for sure, I got that. But that's a pretty dodgy suggestion. Accusing people of being insincere in their offense-taking is....well, pretty offensive.

I really liked your tutorial about creating Barbie afros. Unfortunately, the other parts of your article were misguided and made me (and a number of other people) squeamish. Your good intentions were obvious though, and this was a clear example of how even the most well-intentioned people who have clearly given a lot

Actually, I think that when one student tries to get the other white students from a university class together for a celebration of racism, that would contribute to a pretty awful learning environment for any PoC in that classroom - or at that university. I believe schools have a responsibility to ensure safe and
