I would never usually post requests like this and I know that nobody will have the answer, but... does anyone know where Drew’s striped t-shirt is from? I reallllllly want it, haha.

I am not saying that this show did it particularly well, but I’ll always credit the last season of Girls for *SPOILER ALERT* showing how some friends simply grow apart and that is okay. *SPOILER ALERT*

I think they kind of covered that when Philip Price spitefully tells Whiterose, before he’s gunned down, that his desperation to see Angela alive once again allowed him to briefly entertain the fantasy of his time machine. Sam Esmail is saying that grief and guilt are emotions powerful enough to drive you to believe

Plenty of fantastic shows on this list. I’m especially pleased to see the dearly grieved Lodge 49 get some much-deserved love on here. (Although, let’s be honest, AVClub seemed to be the only publication ringing that bell all year.)

The guy with the megaphone at the rally clearly had KS lesions on his body, so I doubt it could have been Larry Kramer. (Larry Kramer was later diagnosed with HIV but managed to avoid progressing to AIDS).

If you’re referring to the old songwriter in Under The Silver Lake, you might be surprised to learn that was actually Jeremy Bobb (a.k.a. That Pathetic Creep from prestige television shows like The Knick and Russian Doll).

God, I hope there are more frosted douches like you out there who feel that way. That would leave more of the Maya Rudolphs for me :)

So... How come certain Netflix films, like this and Someone Great, are now being reviewed in the TV section of the site?

I don’t think Edgar was being a dick at all. He wasn’t trying to break the couple up; he was trying to stop Jimmy from letting Gretchen, in the midst of a pill addiction and a mental breakdown, throw herself into a marriage before getting help first.

Still love this show. Only problem I continually have is with how it tries to depict moments like Sam letting Max drop out of college as “sweet” or “touching”. I don’t have children yet, but it seems to me like she spoils her kids way too much and then plays mock-shock whenever they’re acting like entitled brats. Max

I’ve already mentioned this is another thread, but The One I Love is also another great film featuring doppelgangers. It’s not a horror film per se, but I found the experience of watching it to be creepy and unsettling in the best possible way. It’s like existential horror!

I just saw this last night and, sadly, I’d have to agree. I enjoyed certain elements, such as the cinematography, the score and Lupita N’yongo’s performance. I didn’t need it to be a pop culture sensation like Get Out, but in the very least it could have provided a few decent laughs or scares. Sadly, it did neither.

A B+ is a very good score in my personal grading system.

The gratuitous shoehorning of lame pop culture references - along with the soundtrack choices - are the worst things about the writing on this show. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still hooked on it. But I find this crutch to be super annoying.

I think part of what irritates me about it so much is that the pop culture

No. Definitely Fun Home. It’s a musical adaptation of the memoir by Alison Bechdel, one of the most celebrated openly lesbian authors working today.

Holy f****** hell I am so with you on Sharp Objects! What a lot of bother about nothing! They quite literally only had enough actual plot to fill three episodes at best. If you mention this to the fans, they’ll nearly always turn around and say, “It’s not really about the mystery... It’s about the atmosphere. The

Holy shit, I saw it at the same cinema in the same week. Wonder if we were at the same screening...

All you have heard is true. I saw this last night and it is an incredibly tense, thrilling, jaw-dropping piece of filmmaking. My only minor nitpick is that the dialogue in the non-action sequences do not have quite the same patter, or comedic touch, as the last two films. Other than that it’s truly spellbinding.

1. Punch-Drunk Love
2. The Master
3. There Will Be Blood
4. Phantom Thread (I just saw it last night)
5. Magnolia
6. Boogie Nights
7. Hard Eight
8. Inherent Vice (This is the only I’ve never seen twice. A second viewing might be required.)
