Personally I don’t get how it destroys the ‘happy ending’ in anyway given how the EU destroyed it decades ago now.
Although he really wasn’t that competent with the lightsaber, he got beat up both times he tried to use it. But he did have great aim.
Let’s be honest though...having the best aim of any Stormtrooper is a pretty low bar to set. That’s like being the fastest sloth.
I agree with this so much! I mean, if we’re going to accept that Finn can also wield a lightsaber with such competence AND have the best aim of any Stormtrooper to ever exist, then the “Rey as Mary Sue” argument falls incredibly flat.

I know it’s been said before many times, but my god does Masahiro Sakurai look ageless. If you google search for images or stories with his picture, he looks exactly the same even 20 years back, or more.
