My dad bought a new '69 Plymouth Fury back in the day, and while wandering around the lot I found one car that had an Aspen badge on one fender and Volare on the other. So it's possible Dodge did sell at least a few Valiants, whether they meant to or not.

Nice write-up Aaron. As one of Jalopnik's very vocal wagon fanatics, have made it no secret that I am very excited about this car. I can't wait to read a review of the V60 T6 R-design. In terms of a comparison you are right there is not much out there...however I wrote this up last week so I thought I would share:

Co-sign. Georgetown and GWU are basically a luxury/performance auto shows in situ. I myself got coaxed into buying a Model S (humblebrag, I know) because I saw a different one in the city or Rosslyn/Clarendon every single day.

I actually do have a problem with the Volvo being on this list. Any future child of mine that thinks I'm going give up one of those Swedish meatballs has another thing coming.

Mazda miata in 6th? A volvo wagon not in first? A honda accord on the list? Of the BEST hand-me-downs?.....

Dodge didn't sell the Valiant, Plymouth did. Dodge's version was the Dart. Best feature = sturdy slant six.

To each his own. I would pick the Ghibli over the Panamera, myself. Both awesome cars in their own right, but I kind of dig the Maser.

I am ashamed to say I watched both of those. I'm almost positive I lost IQ points.

Call me crazy, but I think there are some rich people watching the Super Bowl too... And isn't the Ghibli supposed to be the "affordable" Maserati four-door anyway?

It should have been. A commercial streaming midwestern sensibilities into your brain is completely incongruous with the Maserati brand.

Makes no sense for the Ghibli. That's a blue collar gut check American pride commercial, nothing about it says Maserati.

If you've not see it before:

That's what I expected, too, but then the 4-series coupe turned out to be only about $3K more than a comparable 3-series. So who knows?

Okay Audi, now it's time to bring the A5 Sportback to the US.

I'm pretty sure that hatred of the TSA transcends politics. It's practically universal!

They've always covered all aspects of transportation, so I'm not surprised about this in the slightest. Plus, this doesn't strike me as a conventional, red vs. blue political issue. I think we can all agree that the TSA sucks.

5th gear- Apparently, Carlos Ghosn has noticed that VW can produce roughly nine million cars for 6,000 brands without anyone caring and they're trying to do the same. Can one of those be a RWD platform that underpins sports cars and sport coupes?
