Haha oh my gosh you are so right!

Oooh I’m half way through Americanah also! Yay book twins.

I refuse to read Wuthering Heights because I hate the word “wuthering.” It’s ok to judge me, lol. Boyfriend of Sheesh loves that book and the Kate Bush song of the same name, and is always singing “Heathcliff, it’s me, Kathy!” Ugh.

Jane Eyre is still on my list but I read Wuthering Heights not too long ago and damn, that book is fucked up! Hahaha! You know what classic was surprisingly amazing? War and Peace. Took me months to finish it but I absolutely loved it!

Ha ha. I’ll give you a professor’s perspective on this: I don’t love assigning group projects either, because I remember being in your situation. But as an untenured faculty member at a college that doesn’t give me TAs, it’s nearly impossible to grade individual assignments for all of my classes while also keeping up

Read anything good lately? I’m currently about 2/3 of the way through “Luckiest Girl Alive”, which I only heard of when the author wrote a piece for Lenny. The reviews for it are so-so. I think it’s ok. The thing kind of took me by surprise but I wonder if it even belongs in the book.

Context. The show runners were consistently disrespectful to her as a character and as an actress. The most notable incidents were when she revealed that they did not invite her to do DVD commentary for the show she’s the star of, and when people noticed that Fox’s Sleepy Hollow Twitter account didn't even follow her.

Ding ding ding

I guess what you’re missing is why she wanted off the show in the first place.

me too, and I am so proud of my church these days.

Episcopalian here, too. I have fallen in love with the theology of Richard Rohr, a Franciscan, who does not believe in original sin, but that we are good, created in God’s image and part of God. He has a daily email post.

The Episcopal Church (except for the whacko part who split off) is pretty awesome right now.

A healthy dose of both most likely.

My uncle went to law school with the Clintons and he said once a bunch of guys were standing around talking shit about girls and ranking them from least to most fuckable when Hillary happened to walk past and hear them. She kinda iced them a little and then one of the guys was like, ‘Well, aren’t you going to say hi

I feel like this headline is hugely misleading, seeing as how one of the sources said it’s not actually about the sex articles (which, sidebar, of fucking course it would be frowned upon at a Jesuit school - not the consent one, but the rest definitely).

Because Judaism isn’t Christianity, that’s why. The Talmud put so many restrictions on the theoretical application of the death penalty that it became essentially impossible to apply — for anything, including parricide. And there’s no evidence that it ever was, at any time when Jews had the power to impose it.

Except those aren’t the only two options. Judaism doesn’t believe it is all the word handed down; we believe in interpretation and parsing the language to find real meaning because these are books written by men. And it can mean different things to different people because there are multiple interpretations.

I personally never met a woman like her before and I have my ears plugged with whatever song my iPod is playing.
