How to tell opinion apart from established fact.

It’s so impossible that millions of people do it every single day.

I’m a woman, and I accept apologies that don’t come with a price tag. I’m pretty satisfied with any apology that boils down to “I’m sorry I hurt you when I did that thing; I’ll try to remember not to do it anymore.” Much more meaningful than “I’m sorry if I hurt you, but I didn’t know and maybe you’re being a little

Yeah, I’m of the same mind about asking for forgiveness - it can make even the best apologies feel obligatory rather than heartfelt. Maybe am offer of reparations WOULD be a better ending.... Thanks!

My 4 year old, being a 4 year old, does impulsive things which ends up requiring an apology. I have taught her the three step guide to apologizing.
1) Say you’re sorry
2) Say what you’re sorry for
3) Say how you’ll fix it moving forward.

Sure, we usually get a half hearted “I’m sorry I yelled I won’t yell anymore” but

I always tell my (much younger) siblings that a good apology goes something like, “I’m sorry for doing [X], because [why X was wrong]. Next time I’ll [alternative action]. Can you forgive me?”

True, Hillary’s said a couple deeply dumb things on the campaign trail (although she usually makes a real apology and doesn’t just get defensive or blame people for misunderstanding). But I wish people would stop treating the things she says like she’s some horrible racist garbage monster every time.

No, I’m in agreement - my point wasn’t that DiBlasio’s comment was ok, it’s simply that Jezebel appears to have decided that it is now only a feminist website until feminism gets in the way of supporting Bernie. I like Bernie. I like Hillary. I think we’re good either way. They both definitely have some warts (him: no

yeah,

I don’t know, when the Volkswagen ads clearly say the wrong pronunciation I think I’m ok. A lot of these describe how the name is pronounced in its native language when they’ve embraced other pronunciations in other regions.

Well this one isn’t passing the Bechdel test. Can’t help but be a little disappointed.

When he says “New York values”, I just assumed he meant “Jewey-Jewtown.”

For the record when people say “New York Values” they mean white and black and brown people living next door to each other. Gays freely walking the streets and going to bars to enjoy themselves. Muslims, jews, christians, atheists, all shopping, dining, etc together. Everyone living the lives they want without trying

You made the point of this article. It’s all about societal norms, not health.

I’d share your concern, but as an Irish-American, I’m still reeling from Jonathan Swift’s A Modest Proposal, so I can’t be of any help.

I normally enjoy reading Angry Asian Man, but I don't feel like he understood who the butt of the joke of that poem is supposed to be. When I first read that poem I was 95% certain it was mocking the practice of white urbanites/hipster/foodie types Columbusing ethnic cuisines to feel culturally superior. I feel like

Dear Ms. Brown,

I totally agree. Of course, the piece could be meta and satirizing the type of person that would woefully misread something in an unthinkingly PC way, totally missing the point. But since it’s Jezebel, I’m guessing it’s not doing that. The poem pretty clearly has very little to do with China and a lot to do with

Like most sixth graders, the author of this report fails to consider that the author and speaker are not necessarily the same person and that the author might be using the poem to critique the speaker’s perspective.

One thing I didn’t see mentioned about a cable subscription is the requirement of their hardware. This hardware often comes with a monthly rental fee. I’m not sure if that’s factored in the pricing above.
