This ignores just buying episodes of shows form Amazon or iTunes. If you watch Silicon Valley and Game of Thrones only on HBO then just buy the episodes. Also having Hulu and Sling are redundant unless you want ESPN. Also most people subscribe to Netflix regardless of cable or not.

Yes, if only there had been a woman reporter over a hundred years ago. Perhaps someone who famously went undercover in a mental hospital or travelled around the world. Or did something notable like that.
If he had said I didn’t have many women reporters in my youth that influenced me, I would have been okay with that. There either weren’t as many or they were not as well known. What he did said was so tone deaf and dismissive. What bothers me is how dismissive he was of women writers.
