Well honestly if they’re getting regular physical check-ups with their primary physician that includes screening for potential problems, then I don’t see a major problem with this, personally.

I’ve been washing combs in the dishwasher for years - picked it up from my mother, and was shocked at how confused roommates have been the first time they see me do it. It’s plastic; it’ll be fine. And it’s so much easier than alternatives.
It does not negate the value - checking in as early as possible gives you a chance of switching to a better seat in some airlines. I’ve gotten an exit row from American Airlines that way. So I always check in online, even if checking bags.
For people who really really really don’t want to put their pocket things in their bag: Wear a jacket or sweater (it’s probably going to be cold in the airport/plane anyway) and put EVERYTHING from your other pockets that you need/want in the pockets of that jacket/sweater. Then put that jacket/sweater in the bin to…
I split the difference with one of my friends when they got married - a couple of us went in together on a wedding/shower gift and got a big camping item from the registry, plus a gift basket we put together with smores supplies, Mr/Mrs beer coozies, etc. That way we could put some thought into it and have fun making…
I had a potential employer test me for Excel and Word expertise. Even though I’d already worked two office jobs that required Excel and Word. You’d be surprised who looks for those under skills, though I list it very last on the whole resume.
It’s a good point - overly cautious drivers do end up being more dangerous because other drivers don’t understand what they’re doing or about to do. The safest way to drive is to be predictable, and following the rules is one way to make your actions and intentions clear to other people on the road.
Huh - never tried that one. I had once-a-day-for-three-months antibiotics (which of course only worked for those three months), then nuclear bombed everything with accutane. Hope you and your doctors figure it out. Cystic acne sucks but its physical, social & emotional effects are too often downplayed. Sympathies sent…
Sorry to be a random internet diagnostician, but have you seen a dermatologist about the cystic acne? Mine appeared kind of late (skipped my teens, started in my 20s), and after a long, unsuccessful stint with one dermatologist, tried another and we’ve conquered it (so far).
Aren’t you supposed to dress at the level or above of the company you’re interviewing at? That’s the tactic I was taught for interviewing & sales - if the company you’re dealing with has a t-shirt and jeans dress code, wear a polo or button down. If they’re wearing suits, you better have a darn good tie.
My dad has called me by his dog’s name on multiple occasions. His mom calls each of her sons by the wrong name constantly, and they just ignore it and figure out who she’s actually talking about.
The crazy thing is, it should be the opposite. I have a much easier time remembering less common names (meanwhile, Matts, Marks, Johns, and Chrises are all interchangeable). The two women should be easy to remember. Or if not, come up with a mnemonic in your head related to “glasses” and then try not to use names at…
Margaret Thatcher’s in this? Awesome
I’ll give you that - but their train transit is just ahead of us in general. If you compare the train facilities to our airport ones, the gap narrows :)
I was taught to find a hotel, especially a chain like Marriott. They almost always have a bathroom somewhere in the lobby area, and it’s usually pretty clean.
I’ve used pay toilets in Europe that were way more disgusting than free ones I’ve used in the US. Honestly most of the pay ones were about what I’d expect in the US, with quite a few even more disgusting. Trust me, the correlation is not as clear as you’d think.
I didn’t see as many pay toilets in Ireland as elsewhere. Still might be handy to keep change on you, but I don’t remember it being a big hassle.
*in the US. Traveling in Europe, I saw them a lot more. I also saw a lot more people peeing against buildings in broad daylight, and it took me admittedly too long to connect those dots.
This one in particularly needs to be taught to all schoolchildren (and honestly almost all adults, many of whom are seriously lacking in this skill):
Actual political apologies:
