the fact that these adorable characters engage in terrorism and have magical scrotums automatically makes the film far more interesting than the cat returns. you'll forgive me if i don't have the patience to watch a twenty-minute video review.

you honestly don't see a correlation between the attention a film receives and the number of people who care enough to rate it on the most popular film database in the world? and you're not willing to concede that some of the films i mentioned receive less attention than the cat returns?
you're — somehow — forgetting that studio ghibli is an animation studio. my point is that this is a great framework to showcase their animation talents. how could i forget the plot or the characters? they're charming, endearing.
just for a rough approximation, let's rate the relative attention they receive by number of votes on IMDB:
and i feel the same way about the opinion of anybody who would put the cat returns ahead of pom poko (or who finds any value in the cat returns whatever for that matter). so i guess that means you. what better way to put to use the talents of the wonderful animators at studio ghibli than by portraying the secret lives…
yeah, disney (miramax) did the english dub for the US theatrical release and the DVD. i think it's brilliant. billy bob thornton, billy crudup, minnie driver, claire danes, gillian anderson... what do you want?
porco* rosso; thanks auto-correct!
sorry, billy-boy, i'm just trying to save others from the boredom and disappointment i felt watching this movie. of all the films to name... try castle in the sky, grave of the fireflies, howl's moving castle, kiki's delivery service, castle of cagliostro, my neighbor totoro, nausicaa, ocean waves, only yesterday, pom…
as i recall, he sent them a katana with the message "no cuts"
i'm guessing late 2014. maybe early 2015. can't be much longer — princess mononoke blu-ray finally comes out in japan this week.
oh, and then go watch the ones you have seen again.
worst ghibli film i've ever seen. even worse than tales from earthsea. for anyone who hasn't seen the cat returns, go watch ever other ghibli movie you haven't seen yet.
disney's release rate is the same as studio ghibli's. the disney blu-rays come out several months after ghibli's. the real question is: why does studio ghibli take so long? the answer is probably marketing strategy. see, if all the blu-rays came out at once, i and likely many others would just buy the best ones:…
princess mononoke is being released on blu-ray in japan for the first time ever this week. it's usually several months after the japanese release that disney puts its blu-rays out in the US. considering disney has a page featuring (and selling) the princess mononoke DVD on its site, i would be surprised if they didn't…
Amazing
it's hilarious to me how terrible these guys are at keeping their cars on the road. are they that bad at driving games, or is it illustrative of what an awful idea it is to text and drive/play games and watch TV?
rhyming dialogue sounds über annoying.
don't bother trying to pre-order ps4 or wii u titles (aside from nba2k14). online promo applies only to select titles while in-store is all titles. however, while you can pre-order for the retail price online, in-store you can only purchase reservation cards. because of this, stores will not honor the promotion on…
