I think it reflects accurately on a teenage brain and how it works. Everything or nothing, every setback is forever, it's him or nobody, etc.

That is such a great point! I thought that too.

    duh
    ok cool! thnx

    small world :)

Like your input, but can you just say "tastes differ'? please respect your fellow commenters. I am sure all of us know a thing or two that the rest have to google.
thats why we have this disaster in the White House - because average, good people feel insulted by snobby shit like that - imho

    recipe?

Even worse, not only did they kill an innocent person (hell, happened before, as collateral damage) - but they killed an innocent person who was involved in something that would potentially HELP feed the hungry, and not involved in a malicious plot to starve people. Big difference.

I am puzzled. What does it have to do with your dad being a doctor? Also, so you know, Soviets always used absolutely 100% genuine crystal, even for ashtrays.

the only thing is that he never knew "father" (nor "father" knew of him before much) - so he is in love with an idea of "father", which might be more powerful than the actual flesh and blood real "father"

Grain Guy was in Peace Corps - most of these people are just like that, wanting to improve humanity, feed the hungry, educate the poor and illiterate, give a head start to the disadvantaged. Idealistic, kind-hearted, good people.
Current events - one word - Sad!

    I have to rewatch.

    I am sure she tried.
    Two things:
    1 - key word "rudimentary"
2 - would you say a KGB agent of that caliber gets to spend a lot of "quality" time with her kid?
But you are making a good point, if Misha's English even that good, that's all due to Irina's efforts, not some fancy school

I don't see a cultural thing in it. Maybe, the father decided to make it as efficient as possible? Why have three separate dinners for three different girls? The father didn't know which one Oleg would potentially like (the father didn't expect to be so rebuffed).
He decided to have them all together, pretending it's

    That makes sense.
I still do not buy Misha's journey plot though.

No offense to any Australian here. That stuff is gross.

Yes. I think I see what you mean.
There are some people who are super talented when it comes to leaning a foreign language. it's as if they have a perfect pitch for languages (they do have a perfect pitch probably). But we cannot just assume that Misha is automatically one of those, so the show made a correct choice

    Yes. that too.
Before, I never gave it much thought though how many people are so particular about what they eat. With the exception of having an allergy or certain condition that makes one restrict certain foods, I think many people are missing out on wonderful things they refuse to try.
I would try anything and I eat

    thanks!
Food is a big part of everybody's cultural and ethnic identity if you think about it. Isn't it?

I would agree with this analysis. They are stuck with Misha Jr. in the US now. He is not going back without a fight (after Afghan? no way). And Gabriel must know that, right? So, what's the plan?
