Never said they were peace loving hippies. I'm not naive. I'm confused if you are criticizing my point? Or are you saying you accept the outcome for Native communities because "war is war" and therefore Native tribes lost fair and square?

Well said.
I totally agree! I can't imagine what is going through someone's head when they're like "we're gonna dress you up at a Native American". Wouldn't some type of questioning bulb go off in one's head? Anything? Publicists? Informed human in the room? Nothing?
White people slaughtered their people and now dress up like them for fun and to be quirky. It's offensive, get it? It's not that current young folks participated in the genocides done to these communities, but it's about being respectful of a horrific history that has led to multiple present day struggles and harms.…
Thanks! You are giving me the idea to get my dissertation committee stoned so they will understand my ideas, lol.
Is there no longer an edit option? Their. Their. I know how easily points are dismissed on this website for non-perfect use of written English language (even from us ESLers).
Attaching oneself to women's rights issues is stigmatizing, it's really taking an active political stance, while advocating for soda rights is less contentious and people can kind of bond over there collective loss.
I agree with you that there is a lot of garbage out there but I don't the the p-value in this instance is wrong. A p-value indicates a significant difference among at least two variables, right? So it could be between a difference in outcome between a treatment and control, different groups, different medications,…
Oh just to add, I do think the existence of "fake meat" also kind of proves that we can enjoy our favorite stuff without any animal having to die, and it's often healthier. My boyfriend is a staunch meat eater, he makes fun of my diet all the time. But he was willing to try a bite of a fake chicken patty the other…
Yeah it's a bad tactic that a lot of vegetarians/vegans have adopted (to be self-righteous about not eating meat). I think it comes from this realization that you can be totally satisfied and happy from a non-meat diet and then you just want everyone to consider it. It's really a shame campaign mindset though which…
I grew up eating a typical American diet: burgers, chicken nuggets, hot dogs, ham sandwiches, etc.. I grew up to make the decision in my early 20's to become vegan. I've learned about my diet, that I really just like ketchup and various condiments. It's so ridiculous to say but a veggie burger to me is just as…
I'd like to concur with everything you said. And note that you said it better than I could.
Your mom is a hero.
Yes! I heard that on animal planet recently. Nanny dogs! So sweet and so sad that their reputation has completely turned. I love my blue pit.
"and the majority of human beings are onboard with that"
Sentience? How do you know animals aren't? I'll cite sources that look at the levels of stress, depression, anxiety, and happiness experienced by animals if you want. And so what if they aren't sentient? Does that make us better than them? Have "dominion" over them? We don't know the secrets of this universe and why…
That's pretty audacious to compare bans on abortion and women's rights to veganism. I think most knowledgable vegans agree that it is a privilege to live in a society where it is a choice to not consume meat. And (not to speak for all but...) what many vegans find is that we are open to understanding animal issues…
YOU ROCK. Thank you.
Thanks to you <3
How do you know animal life isn't equal to human life?
