I also happen to think that your inversions of the burdens of proof are very dangerous, but that’s not the subject here.

I’m cheering for you. I’m still unconvinced as to where the dovetail is between the discussion of hatred as constitutive of rape, & the discussion of the extent of hate crime law. I’m skeptical of the leap you make between the two, but still, I’m wicked impressed. Scholarship at work, & top notch Kinja. Hat’s off!
“All rape is hateful. All rape is crime” = unimpeachable statements.
I see you lurkin’
Pics or it didn’t happen.
I’m a third party. I’ve followed this whole clusterf*ck. Straitjackets aren’t necessary! You get the words “hope you get raped” tatted onto your forearm. She gets a mimosa & a Masters degree.
Man, you are so far from home. Tuck tail & get back.
Get ‘em. Wot a dimwit. Wot a jackass.
It is a hate crime, IMO
Go home, kid. You’re drunk disgusting.
I’ve never heard barking so cogent & incisive. Impressive dog!
I think what we’ve all gotten dragged into here is a free-for-all over the nature of hatred. There are two questions at work. First, is there hatred inherent to rape? & second, should rape be universally prosecutable as a hate crime?
I’m still so confused.
It’s fire.
Poor Mr. Hoody, stuck in the middle of this semester’s most confusing hook up.
& that’s right on. As a rule, prosecutors won’t go after women for perjury in cases of domestic assault or sexual violence. Even when the evidence is there, it’s not a good look.
I feel like this is one of those instances where the concept from the brainstorm gets the o.k as the name, & the entire process of worrying over messaging is left right out.
