Holding a gun doesn't mean your instructions are now legally binding on penalty of death.
They were an independent country until they fucked it up and went bankrupt about 15 years later. Then Britain foisted them off on Canada.
Oh you're right. Looks like regular ole left-hand drive on second glance.
It's London. Driver sits on the right.
I think it's satire. They use the word "truthiness" in the subhed.
Good point. Why not even "decoupling"? It's already a word!
Yeah agreed. It's a bit much to expect him to be this voice for black America when maybe he just wants to be Pharrell and not have to run everything he does through a racial politics test to see if it's black-conscious enough.
So his point is that he should not have to be the standard bearer for Black America just because he's black, and Jezebel's point is "if you're black and famous, you should be capital-B Black first and foremost." Got it.
Right. I just think if someone says "it's our religion" it's very hard to say "you're getting your own religion wrong" as an outsider, or sometimes even as an insider. Your analysis of Biblical v. social is spot on, though.
True that. I for one think the school's point of view is stupid; I just don't think the way to attack an earnestly held religious belief is by trying to point out a supposed internal inconsistency. It's like criticizing a reform Jew because he wants his kid circumcised but doesn't care if his wife goes to mikveh.
But they put her in the school in the first place. I don't understand why anyone who would object to this kind of gender weirdness would want their kid around self consciously Christian educators to begin with.
Most religious texts require more than a straight reading to interpret. In this case, cf. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supersess…
Israel has like, what, one or two international airports and seven million people traveling over an area the size of Long Island? Not comparable.
Life bro. Get one.
Why is the Y's denial of the story more credible than the original woman's report? They have an incentive to deny it.
In this case, treating her the "same" would amount to throwing her into general women, which she would have preferred but might have understandably made women already there uneasy — I think most women would not want to be locked up with a dong-bearer — or throwing her into general men, which could have exposed her to…
Torture, huh? I did not know that getting called "he" when you should be called "she" amounts to torture.
She was deliberately kept out of a situation that would be dangerous or cruel, which would be to house her with the male prisoners. She was segregated to keep the rest of the women out of a situation that could be problematic, which would be house a penis-carrying human being in a woman's unit. The only problem was…
But the pronouns!
