Not all mental health patients are in hospitals. A lot of them are in group homes. They could easily get something batlike. Hell, the residents in my mom’s group home could leave on their own. Are you really so stupid as to think they can’t get a hold of a bat or something else dangerous?

Mental health workers get paid much less, have probably just as little training, and if they were caught defending themselves from an attack they would be fired and possibly have charges pressed against them.

This is what pisses me off about this. In most mental health care facilities workers are generally paid less than $12 dollars an hour to non-violently deescalate situations like this. My mom worked in a group home and got punched so hard that she had a black eye for over a month, and if she had retaliated or hurt…

I’ve noticed winters shortening here, too. We get Lake Effect so even though we are further north we get a decent amount of snow, and the past 10 years at least I’ve noticed a difference.
