This is actually a big problem for trains. When they try to stop on the slippery track their wheels stop spinning but keep sliding, grinding down the wheels over time and making flat spots. Then the train needs to be taken out of service more often while they replace the wheels.
a) It's a problem that DOES exist. Problems starting and stopping, and malfunctioning signals are a big deal. For freight AND passenger trains.
This is excellent attention to detail. I just kind of wish they could have gotten an actor who looks more like Michael Biehn.
