From what I understand, the fact that Labrie comes from a less privileged background than many SPS students (I think he was on scholarship) means that his supporters can frame this as a “poor overachieving kid versus rich angry old man” scenario. I hope that there are other parents/families supporting the girl, her parents, and this lawsuit. When this news went public last September, I spoke about it with a friend whose younger sister was in Labrie’s year at St. Paul’s.
