HAH E-check. They have self serve kiosks now, you just plug into your OBD II and push the butons. Basically if you don’t have a check engine light on you pass. Pointless.

I’m a tech in coastal California, and I wish we had inspections here too.

Remember roadside inspections, where the OHP would stop every car on a stretch of road and check things like brakes, lights, wipers and glass? Maybe not, they quit doing it around 1986.

Eh I live in Quebec now and there are no required inspections, and Im pretty sure our accident rate here is on par with any U.S. state.

I moved to NC from OH a few years ago and the inspection thing here is a hassle. Tire wear inspection IMO is worthy but the rest just seems like a money grab.

But damn if we don’t fuckin’ need it. The number of rusted out clap-traps on the road, with barely a tail lamp working, door blown in, tires on the cords, etc is just mind-boggling.
