I am with others — while the story is certainly a very Japanese one, the anime is done in a very ambiguous style. The Japanese seem to LIKE elements often connected with “Caucasian” features — the large round eyes prevalent in so much anime argues for that. Blonde hair and eye colors other than “dark” are very common,

I concur, never gotten into the anime, but from stills and from experience with other anime, she’s not out of line for a typical anime character.

The best argument is that the story itself is very Japanese, but that doesn’t require the character to be so.

What? What?

“Weeeeee don’ Need No Steenkin’ Badgers!!”?

“Oh, Spanish, eh, Batman?”
“One must always keep abreast of foreign languages, Robin!”

Sounds like a parody to me.

Was there an actual article anywhere here?

I’m not seeing one.

All I see is a 3-para blart.

LOL, no one wants to pay any attention to that woman behind the curtain, attempting to force-feed everyone the female action hero archetype.

I’m all for good female leads, but this “it MUST BE female!!” approach is just bad writing, bad directing, and bad producing. Freakin’ write the story. If it’s interesting, it’ll

Face it: The moment they decided all of them had to be female, they were already pandering.

GREAT!! Another movie to tank just like the “feministed” Ghostbusters.

Because it’s more important to push the message than it is to have an interesting story idea!!

Mark my words: This movie will probably tank, if this is — as likely — the main element of why it’s being made.

>>> If you can watchCitizen Kane or The Godfather whenever you want on Netflix or Amazon, you’re less likely to spend money on the latest special anniversary edition on Blu-Ray. Certainly you’re more likely to cut the cord, which is bad news for basic channels like TCM.

This seems defective reasoning, to me — not on

I have plenty. Go talk to Michelle and the Rev. Wright, wiseass.

}}} If you hadn’t guessed already, Trump’s claims are misleading. Half of our wind turbines are not rusting and rotting. They’re built to withstand about 20 years and the vast majority are doing just fine, thank you very much.

The flaw in Kurtz’ argument and numbers is obvious: A HUGE number of cats are housecats, never allowed outside. They catch cockroaches for their owners, but not birds. Unless it’s Tweetybird. And we all know Sylvester never gets Tweety.

The numbers are hardly small, but:
1) They clearly need to be revised by the number

Doesn’t work that way, AEC — there are two types of power generating turbines — call ‘em big and slowup, and small and fastup. The Big ones take a LOOONG time to get up to full speed, as in DAYS... but are quite efficient. The small ones only take a short time — as in hours - to bring up... but they are very

Amazingly, when someone says things like “things were better in the 50s” — they usually AREN’T talking about racism.

They’re talking about a time when people actually had pride — in themselves, in their nation, and in their accomplishments. When Americans didn’t constantly claim America was the worst nation in the

The more critical thing is, if you want to ONLY know the time, a DumbWatch is really really cheap.

Why do you want to spend 10x as much for a “Smart” watch that doesn’t do anything you need on your WRIST?

Why the heck should I buy a smartwatch? I don’t need access to my fitness details constantly. So I can pull out my phone if I needed it.

The only fitness justification for a smartwatch would be if it took my blood pressure on a regular basis. And I don’t think ANY of them do that. And even that’s not worth more than

>>> I often have to skip around Hulu, Amazon Prime and Netflix for a good 30 mins before I commit to a show.

BWAAAAhahahhaaa... welcome to broadcast TV in the 70s, dude.

>>> I’m curious to see how Filmstruck turns out. It’s a collaboration between the Criterion Collection (who I believe are leaving Hulu soon) and TCM.

The real question is WTF took TCM so freaking long? Their catalog has so many old classic movies in it that, if it’s reasonably priced, it should make a mint, since most

>>> The story we told each other—and the dominant narrative in popular culture, in politics, in education—was that Americans were blessed with the power to innovate. Americans got things done. Americans were not content to let technology stagnate. Even if it already worked, Americans could make it better.

And this has
